Medication is rarely needed for laryngitis. However, depending on the cause of your laryngitis, the doctor may prescribe:
- Antibiotics, for laryngitis resulting from a bacterial infection.
- Antihistamines or inhaled steroids, for laryngitis resulting from allergies.

Warm water compresses
A simple and economical way to relieve a sore throat. You can replace the compresses with a washcloth. Make sure to lay down and relax. It’s best to avoid talking, smoking and drinking alcohol for a few days, it will speed up the recovery process.
