Symptom 8: Persistent Itching
On the surface, itching might seem like a minor annoyance. Most of us have experienced it due to bug bites or dry skin. However, persistent itching, especially in a localized area, can hint at deeper underlying issues. In the context of spindle cell carcinoma, this itch is more than skin-deep.
What causes this relentless itching? As spindle cell carcinoma progresses, the tumor can induce local inflammation. The body, in its attempt to combat the tumor, might release specific chemicals or trigger immune responses leading to skin irritation. This isn’t your average itch; it’s a constant nagging sensation that doesn’t ease with regular creams or ointments.
In many cases, the severity of the itch can also be proportional to the tumor’s activity. A more aggressive growth might trigger a stronger immune response, leading to heightened itching sensations. It becomes a silent yet persistent alarm bell, signaling that all might not be well beneath the skin’s surface.
