8. Excessive Fatigue: More Than Just Lack of Sleep
Kids are usually bundles of energy, but what if your child seems perpetually tired and listless? While it’s tempting to attribute excessive fatigue to poor sleep or a busy schedule, persistent tiredness could indicate something far more severe, like stomach cancer.
The initial temptation might be to assume your child needs more sleep or a break from extracurricular activities. But if rest doesn’t solve the issue, it’s time to look deeper. Blood tests could be crucial at this stage, as anemia—an often overlooked sign of stomach cancer—may be the underlying cause of fatigue.
Delaying action on something as seemingly innocuous as fatigue can lead to late-stage diagnosis. When fatigue persists and impairs daily function, don’t write it off as typical childhood tiredness. Early detection and appropriate intervention can make a world of difference. (8)
