Symptom 4: Joint Pain
Joint pain, on the surface, might seem unrelated to a liver condition. However, within the context of AIH, it takes on significant relevance. The pain isn’t localized to one joint but can manifest in multiple joints, mimicking symptoms of conditions like arthritis.
AIH is an autoimmune disorder, where the body’s defense mechanism goes haywire, targeting not just the liver but also other tissues. Joints, being susceptible, often bear the brunt of this misguided immune response. The resulting inflammation leads to soreness, stiffness, and discomfort.
For many, this joint pain can be disconcerting. Questions arise: How can a liver issue affect the joints? The answer lies in the systemic nature of autoimmune disorders. The body, in its confusion, launches a widespread attack, and joints, unfortunately, end up in the crosshairs. (4)
