9. Fever: The Body’s Heated Response to Duodenitis
Not everyone with duodenitis will experience a fever, but when it occurs, it’s a clear sign that the body is in distress. Fever is the body’s natural response to inflammation or infection, signaling that the immune system is actively fighting off an intruder.
The duodenum’s inflammation can sometimes be so intense that it triggers the body’s fever response. It’s akin to sounding an alarm, alerting the individual that something isn’t right. But why does the body react this way?
When the body’s temperature rises, it becomes a less hospitable environment for bacteria and viruses. It’s a defense mechanism, an attempt to burn out the problem. Those with duodenitis might notice a low-grade fever, accompanied by occasional chills. (9)
