4. Mental and Cognitive Changes.
Depression, anxiety, and other mood disorders are common with thyroid issues. In hypothyroidism, it is possible to feel depressed and not respond to antidepressants.
It is also possible to develop a symptom know as brain fog. This condition means:
- Finding it difficult to concentrate and think clearly;
- Having memory issues;
- Experiencing a lack of focus, feeling confused.
In hyperthyroidism, it’s highly likely to have nervousness, anxiety, irritability or panic attacks. There may also be hyperactivity and difficulty to stay still due to an excess of nervous energy. [5, 10]
