9. Visual Disturbances
Head trauma and concussions can affect the visual system. The group of symptoms causing blurred vision, eye coordination problems and dizziness is referred to as “post-trauma vision syndrome”.
The main signs include:
- Dizziness;
- Walk or gait issues;
- Focusing problems;
- Headaches;
- Double vision.
People with with a history of vision issues are likely to experience more severe symptoms of post-trauma vision syndrome.
Whereas mild concussions may affect the vision slightly (difficulty focusing on near objects or digital devices), severe concussions can lead to double vision and even blindness. [7]
