5. Fever: The Body’s Heating Response
A fever, in essence, is the body’s natural response to an invader, be it a virus, bacteria, or in some cases, abnormal cells like cancer. Our internal thermostat, the hypothalamus, cranks up the heat as part of the immune response. But when there’s no obvious infection, recurrent unexplained fevers can be a signal of underlying issues, such as MCL.
Fevers associated with MCL differ from the ones we commonly experience during a flu or cold. They are usually low-grade, persistent, and don’t always come with the usual accompanying symptoms of an infection, making them easy to dismiss or overlook. (5)
