Symptom 10: Enlargement of One Testicle
In boys, the sudden enlargement of one testicle can be a bewildering and alarming symptom. While testicular growth and changes are part of puberty, an asymmetric and rapid enlargement points towards an underlying pathology, one of which could be RMS.
The change might be painless, which can often delay its detection. The child might not complain, or they might feel embarrassed discussing it. However, parents or caregivers need to educate and encourage open dialogue about such changes.
Peeling back the layers, the enlargement might be due to the tumor growing within or pressing against the testicle. It might be accompanied by other symptoms like pain, redness, or even changes in urine. (10)
