Symptom 11. Swollen Eyelids
Swollen eyelids can be a sign of dry eye syndrome, often resulting from inflammation and irritation caused by a lack of proper lubrication. In some cases, the swelling may be mild and barely noticeable, while in others, it may be more pronounced and even interfere with vision.
To address swollen eyelids related to dry eye syndrome, it’s essential to treat the underlying dry eye symptoms. Artificial tears, lubricating eye drops, or anti-inflammatory medications may be used to alleviate inflammation and reduce swelling. Cold compresses can also provide temporary relief by constricting blood vessels and reducing inflammation.
Additionally, maintaining proper eye hygiene and avoiding known irritants can help prevent eyelid swelling and promote overall eye health. (7)
