11. Persistent Itching: The Skin’s Cry for Help
The liver’s health affects the skin. A damaged liver can cause various skin issues.
One of the most common is persistent itching. This itching isn’t linked to any visible rash. Yet, it’s relentless.
Why does this happen? The liver, when healthy, filters out toxins. When it’s compromised, it fails in this role. Toxins then build up in the bloodstream. They can reach the skin and cause irritation.
The itching can be widespread. It might affect the whole body. For some, it’s more localized.
Regardless, it’s bothersome and persistent. It’s another sign of the liver’s declining function. Like other symptoms, it should not be ignored. (11)
