11. Swollen Lymph Nodes: Nature’s Warning System
When you touch the sides of your neck or under the jaw, you might feel small, bean-like structures. These are lymph nodes, part of the body’s immune system. In Ludwig’s Angina, these nodes may become noticeably swollen, tender, and painful.
Lymph nodes are akin to the body’s filtering system, trapping bacteria and viruses. When there’s an infection nearby, such as in the case of Ludwig’s Angina, these nodes ramp up their efforts, becoming inflamed in the process. The swelling is essentially their response to the spreading infection. (11)
