Symptom 14. Sweating More Than Usual: Unusual Perspiration
Sweating during physical exertion or in warm weather is a normal bodily response. However, if you find yourself sweating more than usual—especially if it’s sudden, excessive, and not related to physical activity or heat—it could be a symptom of heart trouble.
Excessive sweating, or diaphoresis, could be a symptom of several heart-related conditions. These include heart failure, heart valve disease, or even a heart attack. The body may respond to these conditions by increasing sweat production in an attempt to cool down.
During a heart attack, for example, cold, clammy sweat is a common symptom. The body reacts to the stress of the heart not receiving enough oxygen-rich blood by activating the sweat glands. This reaction can occur without any physical exertion or exposure to high temperatures.
If you’re experiencing unusual or excessive sweating—especially if it’s accompanied by other symptoms on this list—it’s crucial to seek immediate medical attention.
