Aneurysm – Sign and Symptoms, Treatment, Prevention

Treatment

If the aneurysm is discovered when it is still small, unruptured and presents no symptoms, the doctor will usually decide to wait and monitor its progress. This includes regular physical examinations and tests to visualize the aneurysm every 6-12 months to avoid rupture. This decision depends on a number of characteristics such as the size and location of the aneurysm, the age and health of the patient, and the surgical risks.

However, in the event of a rupture, emergency surgery is necessary. Without immediate intervention, a ruptured aneurysm can often be fatal.

The treatment allows to limit the repercussions of the bleeding, its complications and to avoid a recurrence.
