Fact 11. Treatment of Vascular Dementia: A Multi-faceted Approach
The treatment of Vascular Dementia is multi-faceted, focusing on managing symptoms and slowing down the disease’s progression. While there’s currently no cure for VaD, there are ways to manage the condition and improve the quality of life for those affected.
Medications are often used to manage symptoms of VaD. These can include drugs to enhance cognitive function, manage mood and behavior changes, and address other symptoms like sleep disturbances.
In addition to medications, lifestyle modifications play a key role in VaD management. Regular physical activity, a balanced diet, and mental stimulation are all recommended to slow cognitive decline and promote overall brain health. (11)
