#14. Seizures: A Serious Complication of Concussions
Seizures, although uncommon, can be a serious consequence of concussions. They happen when the brain’s electrical activity is disrupted due to the injury, causing irregular and uncontrollable movements or actions. Seizures may manifest as momentary staring episodes or as intense full-body convulsions, occurring either right after the injury or at a later stage during the healing process.
If you or someone you know experiences a seizure following a concussion, seek emergency medical attention immediately. Seizures may indicate a more severe brain injury and require prompt intervention to prevent further complications. (13)
