#5. Sensitivity to Light and Noise: Heightened Sensitivity After a Head Injury
Following a concussion, many individuals experience heightened sensitivity to light and noise. This increased sensitivity can be particularly bothersome, as it may lead to worsening headaches, nausea, or dizziness. It may also make everyday activities, such as watching television or going to work, more challenging. (5)
To alleviate this symptom, reduce exposure to bright lights and loud noises. Wearing sunglasses and earplugs can provide relief when exposure is unavoidable. If sensitivity persists or worsens, seek medical advice to rule out any underlying issues that may require further treatment.
