Who’s at risk?
Despite popular belief, CVA isn’t connected solely with the older generation. Even though ageing increases the risks, it is possible to have a stroke at any age.
Common risks include:
- High blood pressure;
- High cholesterol;
- Heart disease;
- Diabetes;
- Unhealthy diet;
- Physical inactivity;
- Obesity;
- Excessive consumption of alcohol;
- Smoking.
Some risk factors are beyond our control, such as genetics, family history and age. However, introducing healthy living habits can significantly minimize risks.
