10. Chest Pain or Discomfort: The Direct Indicators of Cardiomyopathy
Chest pain or discomfort is one of the more direct indicators of cardiomyopathy. This symptom often surfaces during physical activity or under emotional stress. The pain can range from a mild discomfort or pressure in the chest to severe, sharp pain.
The pain is typically located in the center or left side of the chest and may spread to the arms, shoulder, back, neck, or jaw. It might feel like a squeezing, fullness, or heavy weight on your chest. Sometimes, it can be mistaken for indigestion or heartburn.
While chest pain is a common symptom of many conditions, it should never be dismissed or taken lightly, especially when it’s accompanied by other signs of cardiomyopathy. If you experience chest pain, especially if it’s severe or persistent, it’s important to seek medical attention immediately. (10)
