PNFA not only impacts verbal communication but also extends its reach to written language, manifesting as visible writing impairments. Individuals with PNFA may experience increasing difficulty with spelling, sentence construction, and maintaining coherence in their written communication.

In the early stages, these difficulties might manifest as minor spelling errors or awkwardly constructed sentences. With time, however, these issues escalate, significantly affecting the person’s ability to communicate effectively through writing. They may start avoiding writing tasks, or their written correspondence might become progressively brief and simplified.

Writing impairments in PNFA do not arise from a lack of ideas or knowledge. The individual still holds their thoughts and understands language rules. The issue lies in conveying these thoughts in written form, owing to the disrupted language processes caused by PNFA. (6)
