Dizziness: Causes, Symptoms, and Treatments

Treatment

Treatment for vertigo and dizziness differs widely depending on the underlying cause. If there is an ear infection, there may not be any need for any medication at all, as it will improve on its own over time. If the problem is low iron levels, the doctor may recommend taking iron supplements along with treating the underlying cause of the deficiency. You may be referred to a neurologist or an audiologist for vestibular and balance assessment if the pathological process is located in the inner ear or in the brain. Dizziness caused by dysfunction of the heart may be cured by antiarrhythmic drugs prescribed by the doctor or by inserting of a pacemaker. Dizziness caused by medication is usually easily solved by reducing the dose, changing or stopping this particular medicine. If the condition is chronic, it may be recommended to go through vestibular rehabilitation. Its goal is to improve your balance through specific exercises.

Dizziness itself is common and usually harmless – but it is important to notice it, as it can be a warning sign for an underlying problem. Never hesitate to seek medical advice!
