What can you do to treat dizziness right away?

Dizziness usually passes on its own. But there are steps you can take to help yourself while you’re feeling unsteady:

  • lie down until the dizziness goes away, then get up slowly;
  • sit on the edge of the bed for several minutes in the morning before standing up;
  • move slowly and carefully;
  • get enough sleep and rest;
  • practice exercises that can improve balance, such as yoga;
  • drink plenty of water;
  • try to avoid coffee and cigarettes;
  • eliminate alcohol and drugs.
