What can you do to treat dizziness right away?
Dizziness usually passes on its own. But there are steps you can take to help yourself while you’re feeling unsteady:
- lie down until the dizziness goes away, then get up slowly;
- sit on the edge of the bed for several minutes in the morning before standing up;
- move slowly and carefully;
- get enough sleep and rest;
- practice exercises that can improve balance, such as yoga;
- drink plenty of water;
- try to avoid coffee and cigarettes;
- eliminate alcohol and drugs.
What you shouldn’t do:
- do not bend down or get up suddenly;
- do not drive or climb a ladder;
- do not walk in the dark;
- do not wear high-heeled shoes.
