How Long Does It Last?
Generally, whether it is of toxic or bacterial origin, food poisoning passes quickly: from a few hours to one day. This short duration makes it possible to distinguish food poisoning from gastroenteritis, which can last for several days. However, if there are complications, food poisoning can lead to serious, longer-lasting problems. In addition, there are food poisoning cases of parasitic origin which can last for several months if left untreated.
Food poisoning is also not to be confused with indigestion, which can occur after a heavy meal and lead to gastric reflux and nausea.
