Type 16: Hangover Headache
Hangover headaches are a common side effect of excessive alcohol consumption, resulting from dehydration, inflammation, and the breakdown of alcohol in the body. The pain is typically described as a dull, throbbing sensation that affects the entire head and can be accompanied by other hangover symptoms, such as nausea, dizziness, or fatigue.
To prevent hangover headaches, it is important to drink alcohol in moderation and stay well-hydrated by consuming water or non-alcoholic beverages between alcoholic drinks. Eating a balanced meal before drinking alcohol can also help slow the absorption of alcohol and minimize the risk of a hangover headache.
If a hangover headache does occur, over-the-counter pain relievers, such as ibuprofen or aspirin, can be used to alleviate the pain. Drinking plenty of water, eating a light meal, and getting adequate rest can also help promote recovery and alleviate hangover symptoms. (16)
