Heart Attack Symptoms

9. Anxiety and Insomnia

Anxiety and insomnia are not specific to heart attacks. However, both of them, usually a result of decreased oxygen in the blood, can be an early sign of a heart attack, especially in women. Recent studies have shown that women are less likely to be diagnosed with heart attacks, the symptoms of which are often mild. Many women with heart conditions experience anxiety and insomnia without attaching much importance to these signs.

The main “alarm bells” include the following symptoms: insomnia or sleep disturbances (even in the background of fatigue), stress, agitation, and extreme anxiety. These symptoms may be observed for a month or more before a heart attack.
