Symptom 18: Sudden or Severe Headache: The Unusual Red Flag
Most people experience headaches from time to time, and they’re usually nothing to worry about. However, a sudden or severe headache could sometimes be a symptom of a heart attack, especially if it’s out of the ordinary for you and is accompanied by other symptoms.
The relationship between headaches and heart attacks isn’t entirely clear, but it’s thought that it could be related to the body’s response to decreased blood flow to certain parts of the brain. As with other symptoms, the key is recognizing when a headache is out of the ordinary.
A sudden, severe headache, often described as “the worst headache of your life,” could be a sign of a serious condition, like a stroke or a heart attack. If you experience this type of headache, especially if it’s accompanied by other symptoms such as nausea, dizziness, or confusion, take care of your health. (18)
