Sign 3. Fatigue: When Tiredness Talks
The language of the heart is often subtle, and one of the subtler signs of heart blockage is unexpected fatigue. Imagine going about your day, tackling everyday tasks, only to feel a sudden wave of exhaustion wash over you. Or you may find yourself wanting to rest more often, without any apparent cause. This unexplained fatigue might be a hint of an underlying heart issue.
Fatigue is akin to the body’s way of dropping clues that it’s running on low fuel. When heart blockage hinders the flow of blood, it reduces the supply of oxygen and nutrients to the body. Consequently, the body has to work harder to maintain its normal functions, leading to fatigue.
Interestingly, fatigue isn’t always generalized. Sometimes, it might be concentrated on specific body parts, like the legs or arms. You may find that your legs or arms tire out quickly or feel heavy, especially during physical activity. This localized fatigue can be the body’s way of marking an X on the treasure map of heart blockage signs.
Notably, fatigue, like shortness of breath, isn’t always a loner. It might be accompanied by other signs, like dizziness or light-headedness. When your body starts to run low on oxygen, it might trigger these additional symptoms. So, if you’re feeling unusually tired and dizzy, it might be worth considering heart blockage as a potential cause. (3)
