Sign 4. Sweating: The Wet Sign
Another unassuming sign of heart blockage is sweating, particularly excessive or unexplained sweating. It might seem odd to link perspiration with heart health, but the connection exists, nonetheless. Imagine breaking into a sweat while sitting comfortably in a cool room, or waking up drenched despite the comfortable room temperature. This kind of unexplained sweating could be hinting at a hidden heart condition.
Sweating, particularly excessive sweating, can be seen as the body’s distress signal during a crisis. When heart blockage restricts the flow of blood, the heart has to work harder to pump blood. This increased effort can raise the body’s temperature, triggering the sweat glands to cool down the body.
Interestingly, this type of sweating often occurs suddenly and unexpectedly. You may find yourself covered in a cold sweat, even when you’re not physically active or feeling hot. This cold sweat can be an alarm bell from your body, alerting you to a potential problem with your heart.
What adds to the deceptive nature of this sign is that it often comes clothed as night sweats. Waking up to damp sheets and clothing can be a disconcerting experience, and while there can be several causes for this, one potential explanation could be heart blockage. (4)
