Symptom 5: Unusual Fatigue – The Silent Deceiver
A sudden onset of unexplained fatigue can be a subtle sign of an impending heart attack. This is not the regular tiredness that follows a long day or strenuous activity. Instead, it’s a profound, overwhelming fatigue that can’t be explained by your activities or lack of sleep.
Fatigue as a heart attack symptom often goes unrecognized because of its deceptive nature. You may feel excessively tired or weak, even when you’ve been resting or haven’t engaged in any physical activity. Activities that you could do easily before might now leave you feeling drained and worn out.
This fatigue doesn’t always present as a feeling of sleepiness or a desire to rest. Instead, it can manifest as a severe lack of energy or a feeling of being ‘run down’. This is your body’s response to the decreased blood supply to the heart, which could signal an impending heart attack.
One distinct feature of heart attack-related fatigue is its persistence. This tiredness doesn’t ease with rest. Even after a good night’s sleep or adequate rest, the feeling of fatigue and exhaustion might still persist. This unexplained, persistent fatigue could be your body’s way of telling you that something isn’t right. (5)
