Symptom 2: Fatigue and General Weakness
Second on our list is fatigue, a state of constant tiredness and low energy. This is another symptom commonly reported by individuals diagnosed with intermittent atrial fibrillation. While fatigue itself is a common symptom for many health conditions, in the context of AFib, it’s often a result of the body’s struggle to compensate for the heart’s inefficiency.
When the heart rhythm is irregular, the heart’s ability to pump blood efficiently throughout the body is compromised. The result is that the organs and muscles do not receive the necessary amount of oxygen and nutrients, leading to feelings of tiredness and general weakness.
For some, this fatigue may be present even during periods of rest, and simple activities such as climbing stairs or carrying groceries can become challenging. It’s important to listen to these bodily signals as continuous fatigue, especially coupled with other symptoms, may be indicative of a deeper, underlying problem such as intermittent atrial fibrillation.
