Symptom 4: Dizziness and Fainting
As we move forward in our list, dizziness and fainting episodes make their appearance. These symptoms are a direct result of the heart’s inability to pump enough blood to the brain due to the irregular heartbeat. When your brain does not receive sufficient oxygen, you may feel lightheaded or even experience fainting spells.
Dizziness might manifest as a feeling of being unsteady or losing your balance. You might feel as if the room is spinning or you are moving when you are not. Fainting, or syncope, might happen suddenly, causing you to lose consciousness for a short period.
While a single fainting episode does not necessarily mean you have AFib, recurrent fainting, particularly when combined with other symptoms such as an irregular heartbeat, should warrant immediate medical attention. It is crucial to seek help promptly to rule out any serious underlying conditions. (4)
