Drug Treatment Of High Blood Pressure
In cases when hypertension remains stable for 2-3 weeks, despite active primary prevention, it’s necessary to start taking prescribed medicine. There are several drugs used to normalize blood pressure. They include:
- angiotensin –receptor blockers (ARBs) (for example candesartan, irbesartan, losartan, valsartan);
- angiotensin – converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors (enarapril, peridropil, ramipril, lisinopril);
- calcium channel blockers (amlodipine, nifedipine, lacidipine, diltiazem, verapamil);
- diuretics thiazide-type (indapamide, chlortalidone);
- beta-blockers (atenolol, bisoprolol, metaprolol).
Pharmacological therapy using these drugs is an effective way to ensure normal functioning of all vital organs and avoid possible crises. However, along with traditional medicine, there are a lot of alternative ways to correct one’s blood pressure.
