Symptom 9. Fever of Unknown Origin: The Body’s Unyielding Battle
There’s no feeling quite like being gripped by a fever, especially when the reason remains elusive. An intermittent, unexplained fever could be a sign that the body is wrestling with something sinister, possibly MALT lymphoma lurking in the shadows.
A fever, in essence, is the body’s thermostat going awry. MALT lymphoma cells, in their chaotic proliferation, might release chemicals that tick off the body’s temperature controls. This could result in unpredictable temperature spikes, often not tied to infections or other common causes.
One might wonder why the body heats up like this. A fever is a defense mechanism. The body, in its innate wisdom, knows that higher temperatures can hinder the proliferation of rogue cells and harmful pathogens. Yet, when this fever becomes chronic, the reasons behind it might not be so benign. (9)
