Symptoms and Signs of Kidney Failure

10 signs you might have chronic kidney failure.

If you’re at high risk for kidney disease due to diabetes, hypertension, or a family history of kidney failure, it’s important to see your GP regularly and get tested for kidney disease.

Some people with CKD don’t have any symptoms — or they think they don`t. Knowing the signs and symptoms of chronic kidney failure means you can get diagnosed, treated and live your best life. While the only way to know for sure if you have kidney disease is to see your doctor and get tested, here are 10 signs you might have kidney disease:

1. Being tired all the time and unable to concentrate.

Patients with CKD often say that they come home from work so exhausted, they don`t want to do anything but to get right in bed. This can be explained by decreased levels of the hormone erythropoietin (EPO) which the kidneys produce. This hormone regulates the amount of new red blood cells in the body. With fewer red blood cells caring oxygen, the muscles and brain become tired very quickly.
