10. Physical Problems.
According to the World Health Organization, depression is a major contributor to many diseases worldwide. [8]
It is possible to experience unexplained physical problems, such as back pain, headaches, body aches, digestive problems, period changes, and weight changes. Apart from that, people with depression will normally have a weaker immune system and a higher risk of getting infections. [11]
At the same time, depression is often a co-occurring condition that comes along with a great number of serious illnesses such as diabetes, cancer, heart disease, or Parkinson’s disease. All of these conditions usually become worse along with symptoms, associated with a depressive state. In addition, medications taken for some of them may cause side effects contributing to this illness. Please consult a doctor if you have any suspicion of depression. [2]
