While not as common, pain in the front of the neck can be a symptom of stage 2 thyroid cancer. This pain is often centered around the area where the thyroid gland is located, that is, just below the Adam’s apple.

The pain can be persistent or intermittent and might even radiate up to the ears. Some people describe this pain as a constant ache, while others may experience sharp, stabbing pains.

Although pain in the neck is often associated with common conditions such as poor posture, muscle strain, or cervical spondylosis, persistent neck pain without an obvious cause should not be overlooked. When this pain is accompanied by other symptoms of thyroid cancer, such as a neck lump, changes in voice, or difficulty swallowing, it may suggest the presence of a thyroid tumor. (7)
