Throat or neck discomfort that doesn’t seem to go away can also be a symptom of stage 2 thyroid cancer. This discomfort might manifest as a feeling of tightness, pressure, or fullness in the neck or throat area.
This discomfort can sometimes be confused with sore throat pain, but it usually persists even without any signs of infection. The discomfort might become more noticeable when swallowing, talking, or turning the neck.
Although it’s a less common symptom of thyroid cancer, persistent throat or neck discomfort should not be ignored. This is particularly true if the discomfort is accompanied by other symptoms on this list, such as a neck lump, changes in voice, or unexplained weight changes. (9)
