Symptom 5. Rapid or Irregular Heartbeat
A rapid or irregular heartbeat, also known as tachycardia or arrhythmia, is another symptom that can be associated with sideroblastic anemia. This occurs as the heart works harder to pump blood and oxygen throughout the body to compensate for the reduced number of red blood cells.
Individuals with sideroblastic anemia may notice palpitations or the sensation of their heart pounding or racing in their chest. This can be particularly distressing, as it may cause additional anxiety or panic.
It is crucial to monitor and report any changes in heart rate or rhythm to a healthcare professional. In some cases, a rapid or irregular heartbeat may indicate a more serious heart condition that requires immediate medical attention. (5)
