The eyes.
An unlikely location, but still pretty common. Chlamydia can get into the eyes with infected semen or vaginal fluid and cause skin discoloration around the eye, itching, pain or discharge. In fact, these symptoms are very similar to conjunctivitis, which is why it’s so important to practice safe sex and get tested regularly.
If you or your partner notice any of the symptoms listed above, see a doctor right away and get checked. The only way to find out if you have chlamydia is to get tested.
Getting Tested For Chlamydia.
This might sound surprising, but it’s actually not necessary to see a doctor to get tested for chlamydia. It is possible to get checked at a local health center or purchase a chlamydia testing kit to do it at home. Testing materials for chlamydia are usually a urine sample or a vaginal/cervical swab.
If you are sexually active, you should definitely have a chlamydia test at least once a year and after unprotected sex with new or casual partners.
