Chlamydia Prevention.
The only trusted way to completely eliminate the risk of getting chlamydia is to abstain from having any kind of sexual intercourse – vaginal, anal, or oral.
It’s not always possible to know if your potential partner is infected, especially since lots of people have it in “silent” form and do not get checked regularly. If you are sexually active, it’s a great idea to make safer sex choices a regular part of your intimate life to prevent yourself from chlamydia and other infections:
- Use condoms during vaginal, anal and oral sex.
- Use dental dams during oral sex or vagina-to-vagina contact.
- Avoid sharing sex toys, or if you do, wash them after each use and cover the ones used for penetration with a condom.
- It is best to have sex with partners who take care of their health, get regularly tested and are chlamydia-free.
Though very common and easily treated, chlamydia can become a serious health risk if left unchecked. It’s always better to be safe than sorry, never hesitate to get checked!
