Prevention
Vertigo attacks might feel scary, but they go away quickly most of the time.
There are also some measures that can be taken to prevent vertigo attacks. These are:
- Taking time to stand up, turn your head, and perform other movements that are likely to trigger dizziness;
- Sleeping with your head elevated;
- Sitting down once you have sensed dizziness;
- Squatting instead of bending over when you need to pick something up. [6]
If the symptoms are severe or prolonged, though, your vertigo is probably associated with another medical issue. Your healthcare provider will help you find the root cause of your vertigo and work out a treatment plan to make you feel better.
