Bloating, or the feeling of a full and tight abdomen, often plagues those with Menetrier Disease. This symptom is closely related to the protein loss and the subsequent fluid accumulation. The fluid, trapped in the abdominal cavity, leads to distention.
Apart from fluid accumulation, the altered gut motility also plays a role. Slowed down digestion means food remains in the digestive tract for longer. This results in gas production, further contributing to the bloating sensation.
