Problem 7. Warts: Small But Stubborn Growths
Warts are small, rough growths caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). They can appear anywhere on the body but are most commonly found on the hands, feet, and knees. Warts are generally harmless but can be unsightly and sometimes painful.
There are various treatment options for warts, depending on their location and severity. Over-the-counter treatments, such as salicylic acid and cryotherapy kits, can be effective in removing warts over time. For more persistent or large warts, a dermatologist may recommend in-office treatments like liquid nitrogen cryotherapy, laser therapy, or surgical removal.
It’s essential to practice good hygiene to prevent the spread of warts to other parts of the body or other people. Washing your hands regularly, avoiding sharing personal items, and keeping warts covered with a bandage can help minimize the risk of transmission. (7)
