The combination of dehydration (due to skin loss and gastrointestinal symptoms) and the potential deposition of immune complexes in the kidneys can compromise their function.
Reduced kidney function isn’t just a transient issue. It can lead to long-term health consequences, including chronic kidney disease.
Immediate intervention is paramount. This might involve rehydration, medications to support kidney function, and in severe cases, dialysis. Regular nephrological check-ups ensure early detection of declining function, facilitating timely interventions. (15)
