2. Mucous Membrane Disruptions: Beneath the Surface
Beneath the visible wrath of the skin, there’s a more covert disruption at play. The mucous membranes, which line our mouth, throat, eyes, and genitals, endure inflammation, evolving into painful blisters. While these may remain unseen initially, they can cause significant discomfort.
These disruptions aren’t merely transient pains. Left untreated, the blisters in the mouth can severely impede eating or drinking. In the eyes, they can transition into vision impairments, ranging from minor irritations to potential blindness.
What causes these internal disruptions? The origins mirror the triggers of the skin rashes – medications or infections that the body perceives as threats. The body’s immune response, in attempting to combat these perceived threats, inadvertently damages its mucous membranes. (2)
