8. Enlarged Liver or Splenomegaly: Internal Changes with External Impacts
Not all PBC symptoms are visible. Some lurk beneath, like an enlarged liver. On the surface, no changes are evident. Inside, there’s a different story. The liver, silently, grows beyond its size. So does the spleen, in some cases.
Patients might feel a fullness. It’s subtle, often under the right ribcage. Occasionally, there’s discomfort, a nagging sensation. It’s not sharp pain but an unease, a persistent reminder that all isn’t well.
Medical interventions shed light on this. Imaging studies, routine check-ups, and physical examinations reveal the enlargement. Monitoring becomes essential, ensuring the enlargement doesn’t escalate into bigger complications. (8)
