Hemorrhoids can often cause an excess production of mucus in the rectal area. This secretion acts as a natural lubricant, aiding the passage of stool. However, when hemorrhoids are present, they can disrupt this process, leading to an overproduction of mucus.
Parents or caregivers might initially dismiss it as residual moisture or sweat. However, continuous observations of such a discharge, especially when coupled with other symptoms, should raise suspicions. Children might not be able to communicate this symptom effectively, making it all the more crucial for adults to be observant.
