13. Pimple on the Gums
A pimple on the gums, also known as a dental abscess, might appear as a small, pus-filled bump. This can be a direct indicator of pulpitis and an infection that has spread to the surrounding tissues.
The pimple is usually the result of an accumulation of bacteria and pus, stemming from the infected pulp. It’s a clear sign that the infection is not contained within the tooth and requires immediate attention.
This dental abscess can be painful and may even burst, releasing pus into the mouth. It’s not just the immediate discomfort; if left untreated, the infection can spread to other areas of the mouth or even the body.
A dentist will likely drain the abscess and address the underlying infection, possibly through a root canal or extraction if necessary. They will also recommend antibiotics to help fight the infection. (13)
