Symptom 7. Leg Pain and Swelling
Leg swelling and pain can be common symptoms of APS. These issues may arise due to blood clot formation in the deep veins of the legs, a condition known as deep vein thrombosis (DVT). DVT can cause pain, swelling, and warmth in the affected leg, and if left untreated, it can lead to severe complications, such as a life-threatening pulmonary embolism.
To minimize the risk of leg swelling and pain in individuals with APS, it’s crucial to manage the underlying condition effectively. This may involve anticoagulant therapy, compression stockings, or lifestyle changes, such as regular exercise and maintaining a healthy weight. In addition, it’s essential to monitor for any signs of leg swelling or pain and seek prompt medical attention if these symptoms occur.
By working closely with healthcare providers and taking a proactive approach to their health, individuals with APS can reduce the risk of leg swelling, pain, and other potential complications associated with the condition. (7)
