2. Seizures: More Than Just a ‘Passing Phase’
Twitches and tremors are usually easy to dismiss as muscle fatigue or minor neurological glitches. However, in the context of PCNSL, seizures are far from being innocent tremors; they are full-blown neurological episodes that warrant immediate attention.
Seizures occur when there’s a surge of electrical activity in the brain. In PCNSL patients, this is often caused by tumors interfering with normal electrical signaling. The result? Focal or generalized seizures that can range from barely noticeable to intensely disruptive.
The aftermath of a seizure isn’t limited to physical exhaustion. It extends into cognitive fog, emotional distress, and a significant disruption in daily activities. You could experience postictal confusion, a state of disorientation lasting for hours after the seizure, which further underlines the severity of this symptom. (2)
